Dr. Suwelack skin and health care AG, processes animal products from which cosmetic raw material is produced. One of the end products for the company's raw material is dermatological "face masks."
For the production of face masks plates of collagen are first made. After solidification in the sheet production machine, the product goes directly into cold storage at a temperature of -25oC. The machinery for the subsequent production steps is located inside the cold storage area in order to obtain high product quality and consistency.
The production process encountered a significant problem during the regular transport of finished collagen sheets from the production area into the cold storage area. Since the production area was warmer and more humid the movement of the product tracked in a significant amount of moist air upon entering the cold storage area. When this infiltrating moisture hit the cold surfaces inside the cold storage area it quickly turned to ice and frost throughout the entire cold storage area (at doors, on evaporator fins, on production machinery, etc). As a result, facility personnel regularly had to defrost the cold storage area, disrupting production and increasing maintenance costs.
The solution was to install a Munters Icedry®800 inside the cold store. Air from the cold store was recirculated through the IceDry800, dehumidified and blown down the 2 door openings like dry air curtains. Thanks to Munters IceDry 800 the cold storage area is now free from ice and snow. Production and storage are now free from moisture related problems.
