Munters IZS is a fully integrated system complete with a zeolite concentrator, thermal oxidizer, fans, and controls. Solvent laden air is drawn through the zeolite rotor concentrator where the VOCs are removed by adsorption. The rotor turns continuously transporting the adsorbed VOCs into a regeneration zone where heat is used to desorb the VOCs into a smaller highly concentrated airstream. This concentrated airstream is 5-10% of the original process air volume. Once the VOCs are stripped from the zeolite wheel, the concentrated stream is sent to a small thermal oxidizer for destruction.
The system is fully assembled and tested to temperature in our ISO 9001 facility prior to shipment. This allows for easy installation and startup once onsite.
This equipment configuration can be used to treat any low VOC concentration exhaust air stream. The system is designed for 24/7 continuous operation and can be equipped with a variety of equipment options:
• Pre-filters are used to treat paint particulate
• Redundant process fans are used with VFD's for pressure control
• System bypass can be integrated to ensure 24/7 fab exhaust
• PLC, and Man-Machine Interface all located in a main enclosure and designed for ease of use
Zeolite Rotor with a Recuperative Thermal Oxidizer (TO)
Munters can couple a recuperative thermal oxidizer with a zeolite rotor. From the recuperative oxidizer, a primary heat exchanger is used to preheat the process air prior to combustion. The secondary heat exchanger is used to heat a slip stream of the process air that is used to regenerate the Zeolite rotor. Thermal efficiencies up to 80% can be achieved.
Zeolite Rotor with a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO)
The most fuel efficient configuration is to integrate Zeolite rotor concentrators with a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) for VOC destruction. Dual Chamber RTOs with 95% primary heat recovery and flameless Natural Gas Injection (NGI) can operate auto thermally with highly concentrated VOC streams from concentrators. High airflow applications such as automotive and aerospace finishing take advantage of the minimal fuel requirements of this configuration.
Gas fired heaters can be used for rotor regeneration. However, using hot gas bypass air from the RTO can almost eliminate only fuel usage for the system during normal operating hours. The only fuel use would be at startup.
