Munters improves production for flower grower

Jun 10, 2014

Greenhouse manufacturer Asthor Agrícola S.A. complete “turnkey” horticultural projects, and cooperate with Munters for climate control of its greenhouses. A recent joint project in Obidos, Portugal showed great results for the customer.

Quinta do Sitio da Cruz, a family-owned business, was faced with the need to increase and improve production in its flower greenhouses, and after having installed a number of units with equipment by another brand, they decided to choose Munters climate control system in the latest greenhouse.

After one year of operation, the differences between the unit fitted with Munters climate control system and the other greenhouses are considerable. The temperature and humidity conditions inside the greenhouses are more homogeneous, while the durability of the pads is greater as they stay cleaner, with no algae or organic deposits.

"The CELdek pad improved the performance with a lower air speed and less electricity consumption", commented Osvaldo Branco from Quinta da Sitio da Cruz.

Adding to the sustainability aspect is the special fan shutter mechanism which prevents air leakage through the fan, enabling an hermetically sealed environment. This way, fans and cooling pads operate only when needed, and electricity consumption is kept down to a minimum.

Many years of experience in the manufacture and application of climate systems has clearly proved to Munters that climate control – based on the "pad and fan" cooling system as well as on our air-heating systems – is the most efficient and trustworthy technology available. And this is true both for boosting production and for cutting costs, not to mention operational reliability.
