Telecommunications Facilities

Energy consumption, reliability and maintenance are important factors for critical telecommunication facilities. Thermal loads inside telecom facilities and electronic enclosures must be managed efficiently. Heat is constantly generated, making this an ideal application for indirect evaporative cooling (IEC)


Munters IEC solutions enable telecom customers to free up electrical power for their core business.  Munters IEC systems are designed to work in the economizer mode, even on extremely hot summer days, e.g. 100°F/38°C temperature and 75% RH.  As a result, telecom customers can install more communication equipment without requiring additional expensive power installations from utility companies. Telecommunication customers have been able to increase the available electrical power by up to 37% when utilizing Munters IEC systems.

Munters IEC systems are equipped with a polymer tube air-to-air heat exchanger that transfers heat to a separate outdoor airstream. Air and water when needed is flushed over the exchanger to reject heat.  The processed air passing through the exchanger never comes in contact with the water or the outdoor, thereby adding no humidity to the supply air.

Munters also offers plate heat exchanger systems if water is not available at the site.

Telecommunications components manufacturing

To control humidity in component manufacturing and storage areas, Munters utilizes desiccant dehumidification technology that can supply and maintain RH levels of 1% or lower, regardless of ambient conditions. 

In addition to creating optimal air conditions, Munters offers a range of Zeol VOC abatement products for the telecommunications industry.  Munters’ systems clean exhaust air that is laden with Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s), which are harmful to health and the environment and must be abated. A zeolite rotor concentrator can greatly reduce operating costs, by effectively concentrating the VOC’s before being sent to an integrated oxidizer for destruction.  Munters VOC Abatement Systems can achieve greater than 95% VOC destruction removal efficiency (DRE) while also reducing fuel costs by as much as 30-50% compared to standalone oxidizers.
