Munters in business delegation to India

Feb 18, 2016

Munters participated in a high-level business delegation to India this week.

The delegation was headed by the Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven, and among the participants were the CEOs from eg Volvo, Saab and Höganäs, executive team members from Scania, ABB and Ericsson and the Wallenberg family represented by Marcus Wallenberg.

India is developing in a positive direction. The country is now the fastest growing among the BRIC countries (7.3% GDP in last quarter), investments are increasing, companies are optimistic about the future and the Prime Minister is truly focused to make it easier to do business in India.

It is clear that for big Swedish corporations, India is not only a country for basic manufacturing or support centres. They are creating knowledge/R&D/engineering centres to drive business internationally.

We are convinced that Munters has excellent opportunities to grow in India, with our focus on energy efficiency, pollution control and climate-friendly solutions. The country has recently implemented new standards for emissions from coal-fired power plants. That means that the “China boom” we have experienced is likely to partly replicate in India. Meetings with government agencies, which Munters had during the week, confirmed the commitment to reduce pollution. Growth opportunities also exist in several other customer segments such as gas turbine plants, windmills, food manufacturing, Data Centres and poultry.
