Munters introduces Speria. Accelerating the digital transformation of the food supply chain

May 10, 2026

We sat down with Pia Brantgärde Linder, President of Munters business area Food Tech, to talk about the launch of Speria, a new commercial brand supporting the digital transformation of the global food supply chain.

Food production is often described as one of the least digitalized industries. Why is this such an important moment for change?

Pia: Food production is critical for our survival, yet it hasn’t kept pace with digital transformation. At the same time, the industry is under increasing pressure, from labor shortages and rising costs  to higher expectations on animal welfare and food safety. All of this makes transformation not just important, but necessary.

What are the main challenges food producers and integrators face today?

Pia: One of the biggest issues is fragmentation. Systems across feed, farms, processing and production are often disconnected. Even when digital tools exist, they don’t always work together, which makes it difficult to optimize performance across the supply chain.

Where does Speria come in?

Pia: Speria addresses that fragmentation. It brings together the technologies, software, and deep industry expertise of five companies, each leaders in their own field— into one connected approach so systems can work  across the entire food supply chain. Instead of just collecting data, these systems and teams, analyze and learn from daily operations and provide clear actionable guidance.

What makes these unified or connected solutions different from traditional siloed solutions?

Pia: Traditional systems often just record data. What producers need now are systems that actually drive action. With Speria, we move from beyond monitoring to automating routine decisions, executing actions where relevant, and only escalating when human judgment is needed.

That sounds like a big shift. Where is this heading long term?

Pia: It’s a step-by-step journey, but the direction is clear. We’re moving from insight to outcome-driven execution, and over time toward a more autonomous food supply chain.

Speria brings several companies together. What does that mean in practice?

Pia: We’ve brought together Rotem, MTech Systems, InoBram, AEI, and Hotraco under one brand. Together, they represent more than 150 years of industry expertise. This allows us to offer integrated, end-to-end solutions while still maintaining strong product brands and existing relationships with producers, integrators and distributors.

How does this benefit customers directly?

Pia: By connecting hardware, software, and services, we create a easier for producers and integrators to manage operations at scale and make better decisions.

That means less manual work, smarter use of data, earlier detection of issues – leading to better performance, lower waste, and more predictable outcomes.

Are you already seeing measurable results from this approach?

Pia: Yes. We typically see 3-5% improvements in feed conversion and a return on investment within 6–12 months. That’s comes from turning data into insight—and insight into real operational impact.

Beyond efficiency, what other improvements do customers experience?

Pia: We see better predictability, improved forecasting, stronger traceability, and earlier detection of issues. Overall, it leads to higher productivity, better yields, and more consistent results across sites.

How does Speria fit into Munters long-term vision?

Pia: Speria reflects the shift toward a more connected and automated food supply chain. We’re not replacing what already exists, we’re making it work better together - strengthening our role as a long-term partner to the industry.

If you had to summarize the ambition behind Speria in one sentence, what would it be?

Pia: To bring our combined strengths together to create more connected, more intelligent, and over time more autonomous food production systems.
