IT Application Manager
I’m the IT Applications Manager for the Americas. I manage a team of IT professionals that support and develop our internal IT applications. We interact daily with the business areas in order to resolve problems and to develop and implement solutions for business area needs.
“I pack my bag and take with me…”; Give me 3 things you pack from your daily life which you need or characterize you and tell me why it is important for you.
I pack my favourite music, my ‘must do’ list, and a snack (usually almonds and water.) The list is important because disorganization distracts me, and the list focuses me on the important things to get done. The music helps to de-stress, and I just love a sing-a-long. Every day’s an adventure and rarely goes exactly as planned. A snack keeps me going through the twists and turns.
How would you say that your bag items reflect you?
These items reflect my general outlook to expect the unexpected, and enjoy the music of your life.
Tell me about a fun experience at Munters
A recent diversity and bias workshop included activities that required us to form groups. For each activity you had to form a group with different people from your previous group. In this session, I knew 3 of the 25 participants. It was a little daunting at first, but by the end of the workshop, I’d met a whole group of employees that I hadn’t known before.
What challenges are you facing in your day-to-day job?
One of the biggest challenges is prioritizing the work flow in the Applications group. We are regularly re-evaluating assignments based on business priorities. Our team works collaboratively, and business requests can often require a lot of back and forth among the business and IT team members. Making sure that everyone is up to date on events is important, and we’re constantly working to improve that process.
What would a perfect Sunday be like for you?
Coffee, the Sunday paper and a good book at the beach.
Was there anything that surprised you when you started at Munters?
I wasn’t aware of Munters World when I first started. It’s a wealth of information!
What would your friends say is your biggest strength?
My friends would be sarcastic, and then maybe say my organization and loyalty.
What would your best career advice be for a new employee who is about to start a career with Munters?
Make time to get out into the business areas and understand what they do and why. Being vested in their success, will help to add value to your team.
What’s the best part of your job or department?
It’s our team. I’m lucky to work with a group of highly motivated people that are helpful, creative, understanding, and have a desire to see our team succeed.
