Drying cores foundry sand

A core is a device used in casting and molding processes to produce internal cavities.

The core is normally destroyed to get it out of the piece. They are most commonly used in sand casting but are also used in injection molding.

The dehumidification system controls the moisture level in the air, drying water based coatings using a desiccant dry air tunnel to ensure a perfect controlled drying quality.

A huge advantage of desiccant dehumidification is that the product can be dried at near room temperature, which makes parts manipulation and preparation for their casting much better. This results in space savings, shortened cycle time resulting in greater flexibility in production.

The energy consumption is also much lower than other heating based techniques. Maintenance is simplified and is limited to replacement of all filters.

By controlling the foundry ambient conditions on high humidity days, the foundry does not need to manouver its pouring schedule to make castings impacted by the humidity, such as vacuum-tight castings. Munters dehumidification systems provide a consistent product, so operators can pour their parts irresepective of outdoor conditions.
