For avoiding production losses during the hot season, where the ventilation is crucial for keeping the environment at the ideal temperature level, it is important to verify the perfect functionality of the fans in advance.
Overall visual inspection: Make a visual inspection of the mesh, verifying that it is free from anything which might reduce the flow of the air, for a safe operation all the screws holding the mesh in its position have to be present.
Shutters: Check the correct operation of the shutter blades, verifying that there isn’t abnormal friction during the open and close movement. Check integrity of the plastic components of the shutter blades.
Centrifugal system: Check the correct operation of the opening/closing mechanism, verify that the plastic has no cracks and the counterweights are present on each of the two arms are present and tightly positioned. The centrifugal system is maintenance-free and not fixable, therefore in case of any malfunction, it is necessary to replace the complete assembly.
V-belt: Inspect the V-belt alignment and verify correct belt tension. In case the V-belt present evidence of worn-out, consider to replace it. After each replacement of the V-belt, it is necessary to check the tension after three days of operation.
Transmission: Inspect the transmission pulleys and verify their integrity. In case any of the pulleys present evidence of worn-out, consider replacing the transmission, i.e. the motor pulley, the central pulley and the v-belt. Bearing on central pulley: Verify that there is no free movement and no abnormal noise while the propeller is slowly rotated by hand. The bearing is maintenance-free and not fixable, therefore in case of any malfunction, it is necessary to replace the complete assembly.
Fan blades: Verify a correct rotation and clean if needed, assure that all the rivets holding each blade are present and correctly tighten them accordingly. In case any rivet is missing, it is necessary to replace the whole propeller since the replacement of a single component will affect the propellers' balance.
Electrical wiring: Inspect electrical wiring and connection to the fan and verify that they are in good conditions with no corrosion, discolored wires etc. Wiring enclosures shall be kept tight for water and dust and have to be replaced if necessary.
Motor overload protection: Verify that motor overload protection has the correct adjustment and test its cut-off functionality.
Electric Motor: Verify that the motor is clean without excessive dirt covering its housing, a dirty motor will limit it from ventilating properly. Rotate the motor by hand, and make sure there is no free movement in the internal bearings neither noise coming out of the motor while rotating. In case the motor present evidence of any malfunctioning, consider replacing it, keeping in mind that the motor is the heart of the fan.
