Tican Fresh Meat A/S is a prominent international food producer and the Danish division of the Premium Food Group (PFG). While its heritage dates back to 1928, when it primarily served the Danish domestic market, the company has evolved into a leader in the high-quality niche of the global pork market.

特徴

  • Reduced production downtime for cleaning and drying from 5 to 3 hours.
  • Mitigated risk of condensation and moisture droplets from ceilings.
  • Consistently high product quality.
  • Strict compliance with the highest hygiene and manufacturing safety standards.
  • Enhanced operational efficiency with multiple dehumidifiers

Operating from three sites in Denmark, Tican manages the comprehensive pork value chain, encompassing slaughtering, cutting, and deboning – supplying high-quality fresh and frozen pork to both the retail sector and industrial clients. Tican is widely recognized for its rigorous commitment to food safety and full traceability, exporting approximately 85-90% of its total production. A significant portion of this output is dedicated to quality-conscious international customers, with primary markets including Great Britain, Germany, and premium Asian regions such as Japan.

Eliminating condensation and reducing downtime

As a responsible food producer, Tican prioritizes food safety throughout the entire production cycle. To meet both internal standards and customer requirements, the company utilizes HACCP systems to optimize safety, from raw material quality control through to the final manufacturing processes. This ensures strict compliance with the highest hygiene and manufacturing safety standards. A significant challenge in the production environment is the risk of condensation and moisture droplets forming on factory ceilings, which can lead to mold and microbial growth. While daily, extensive cleaning is mandatory, the subsequent drying process is traditionally time-consuming. It is therefore critical to minimize production downtime for cleaning and drying while ensuring that no residual moisture remains. ”The challenge we faced regarding humidity was ensuring that production rooms were completely dry after cleaning before the next shift began. As we transitioned to two-shift operations, it became necessary to significantly accelerate our drying process to maintain our schedule,” Aske Hauerslev Andersen, Supply & Environmental manager at Tican.

Integrated dehumidification

Tican’s primary focus is the consistent quality of its products, maintaining high standards of animal welfare, and preventing contamination. However, to expand capacity and introduce the new two-shift schedule, the company identified the time required for cleaning and drying between shifts as a critical operational bottleneck. Together with Vestvent ApS, the ventilation contractor responsible for assembly and final integration, Munters recommended two specialized dehumidification systems. The first, Munters DSS Pro, is a fully integrated, modular air treatment solution used to accelerate drying times after wash-downs. The second, Munters MX2 80 PLUS, operates around the clock to maintain an optimized, stable, low-humidity environment. This prevents condensation on ceilings and ensures that moisture does not drip onto products. In addition, Tican utilizes smaller units in various locations where specific machinery requires dry air. According to Andersen, these units are essential for equipment situated in high-humidity environments that would otherwise be taxing on sensitive mechanical and electronic components. “The solution provided rapid drying of the production areas, something that was impossible to achieve with our previous equipment. When we moved to two-shift operations, our drying window was compressed from five hours to just three. The Munters solution allowed us to meet that target” says Aske Hauerslev Andersen, who also appreciates the fact that the timeline was upheld. “The collaboration worked great. It was a tight schedule, with a firm deadline, but the equipment was delivered on time and with the quality we wanted. We had the equipment up and running before production began, giving us the opportunity to test it on-site first”. David Hansen, project manager at Vestvent, shared a similarly positive outlook regarding the project’s execution. “Our collaboration with Munters on this project has been fantastic. They were responsible and helpful throughout the process, maintaining a close dialogue with both us and the customer to ensure we reached the right solution. I especially value our partnership because it was built on honesty from start to finish. We had constructive discussions throughout – and as a subcontractor, that is exactly what you need: a partner who delivers consistently at every stage.”
