Dehumidification solve moisture problems in crawl spaces

Due to the difference in water content in the ambient air and the air in the cold store, problems with ice and frost accelerate when the moisture-laden outdoor air enters the cold areas. The water starts to condensate and in cold environments this leads to disturbing creations of ice, snow, frost and fog.

In crawl spaces occur moisture problems in that damp and warm outside air is vented into the basement and condenses on the cold building surfaces. The humidity accumulates in the organic and hygroscopic materials such as wood, musten and plastered surfaces rises further. There is a risk of mold, mildew and rot. These problems are discovered only when residents detect bad smell from the basement, or are plagued by allergies or other disease related to high humidity.

Ventilation is often used to prevent moisture problems in basements. In winter, ventilation could be a good option but in summer when the outside air is warmer, the ventilation solution occur condensation problems. The warmer air hold more water than the cold winter air, which aggravated the problem.

Effective solution

Munters Desiccant dehumidification system solves the problem by ensuring that the air in the crawl space always has such a low relative humidity, to prevent condensation. The dew point temperature of the air is lowered therewith to a level which is lower than the temperature on the cold surfaces and therefore avoiding completely precipitates condensation. The system can create a vacuum which helps to prevent mold and fungal spores penetrate into the accommodation.

  • Prevents moisture damage for building structures
  • Fresh and healthy air in the crawl space
  • No allergy caused by mildew and mold
  • Easy installation and maintenance
