Munters air treatment products are widely used in museums, galleries and libraries, both for creating a comfortable climate for audiences and – behind the scenes - to protect important and often irreplaceable books, artifacts, documents, film and tapes stored in archives. Temperature, humidity and pollutant levels all play a vital role in the preservation of such items.

Public places such as museums and libraries require a certain percent of outdoor ventilation air. However, the humidity and temperature must be maintained at a precise and constant level. Pollutants should also be kept to a minimum in order to ensure the protection of the delicate items held within the building.

With Munters’ global experience and expertise, we can assist you in obtaining the best solution to improve your indoor air quality whilst reducing building maintenance and energy costs. With Munters standalone dehumidifiers or customer tailored system solutions, you can maintain the proper indoor environment to preserve your collection for future generations.

LVR Museum Germany

Munters dehumidification solution ensures that exhibits remain in good long-term condition in the metal depository of the LVR Roman Museum

Since 2008, the LVR-Roman Museum has been at the heart of the LVR Archaeological Park in Xanten, Germany. The modern museum building made of steel and glass is located on the historic site of the former Roman metropolis of Colonia Ulpia Traiana. Over 2,500 exhibits along with modern media paint a vivid portrait of everyday Roman life within an exhibition area measuring around 2,000 square meters. Many of these exhibits are made of metal and are sensitive to excessive room humidity. The corrosion rate steadily increases from relative humidity values of 50%. Low ambient air humidity greatly slows down the corrosion process. An intelligent dehumidification solution was needed to maintain the quality of the artifacts for museum visitors.
