With a wide portfolio of Oasis™ Indirect Evaporative Cooling (IEC) systems, Munters' team of data center specialists can provide comprehensive design support to data center cooling engineers. Sophisticated design software provides detailed financial and thermal performance predictions, including hourly energy consumption for the full year, based on predictive weather data.
Typical medium to large-sized data centers require 0.5 to 50 MW of cooling capacity. The recommended supply air temperature for computer rooms is 80.6°F (27°C), according to ASHRAE Thermal Guidelines for Data Processing Environments 2009a, making the Munters Oasis IEC an ideal choice. Market research continues to predict ambient computer room temperatures will increase to even higher levels, making these indirect evaporative solutions even more cost effective.
Munters Oasis Indirect Evaporative Cooling solutions have now been installed in a wide variety of data centers across North America, Europe Asia and Australasia. These systems circulate the primary air from the white space through heat exchangers which are cooled using a combination of outdoor air movement and evaporation. The indoor and outdoor airstreams never mix, resulting in a minimal requirement for filtration.
Energy consumption, reliability and maintenance are important factors for critical telecommunication facilities. Thermal loads inside telecom facilities and electronic enclosures must be managed efficiently. Heat is constantly generated in these facilities making this an ideal application for indirect evaporative cooling.
Munters indirect evaporative cooling (IEC) cooling solutions enable telecom customers to free up electrical power for their core business. Munters Oasis IEC can even work in the economizer mode during the extreme ambient weather conditions of summer – 100°F/38°C temperature and 75% RH.
Telecommunication customers have been able to increase the available electrical power by 37% when utilizing Munters IEC systems. This allows telecom customers to install more communication equipment without needing to invest in additional expensive power installations from utility companies.
Munters IEC systems are equipped with a polymer tube air-to-air heat exchanger that transfers heat to a separate outdoor airstream. Air and water when needed is flushed over the exchanger to reject heat. The processed air passing through the exchanger never comes in contact with the water, thereby adding no humidity to the supply air.
Direct Evaporative solutions include “DataDek Evaporative Pads”, an advanced version of Glas-Dek - the most popular range evaporative cooling pads in the world. The technical properties of DataDek have been specially developed to meet the demanding requirements of modern data center design.
Munters also offers plate heat exchanger systems if water is not available at the site.
