Becker Chen heads Munters' factory in ChaShan factory in China.jpg

Becker Chen

Becker Chen is the operations manager at Munters' factory in ChaShan, China. He and his team work tirelessly to reduce the amount of resources used to produce the CELdek® product, which is a special pad used for cooling and humidification.

What does sustainability mean to you?

For me personally, sustainability means we need to consume as little resources as possible during our lifetime and contribute as much as possible to society. As an operations manager, my team and I work hard to minimize the waste in our factory and maximize the use of our resources.

How does your team contribute to a more sustainable Munters?

Our CELdek® factory is resource intensive. Every year, we consume a lot of electricity, gas and paper.

We work hard to reduce the use of energy and raw materials. For example, we have reduced our energy consumption (electricity and natural gas) by 25% by upgrading some of our equipment and recycling the heat in our factory to dry the CELdek® pads. We have also saved 30% on glue by switching from "full-line" to "dotted-line" gluing. In addition, we have reduced the energy and material costs of our block forming process by 6% by removing the need to cut the pad blocks. To achieve this, we involved the whole factory. The initiative is a good example of our teamwork.

How do your team contribute to a more sustainable world?

Our combined efforts mean we have gradually consumed less resources in recent years. In addition, CELdek® is a very energy-efficient cooling unit that makes our customers more sustainable. We are very proud of the progress we have made so far!
