New tool supports more sustainable product decisions
Apr 24, 2026
Energy efficiency and lifecycle thinking have long been part of Munters DNA. Across the company, teams have been using different total cost of ownership (TCO) tools to support better decision-making, help customers look beyond upfront investment and understand long-term impact.
Now, Munters business area AirTech has taken a conscious step forward to formalize this approach. A new TCO calculator, integrated directly into Genesys selection software, brings a consistent and structured way to assess the long-term environmental and financial impact of different product configurations.
By visualizing costs across the entire life cycle of an installation, the tool supports more transparent and sustainable decision-making. Customers can clearly see how efficient solutions may reduce operating costs and resource use over time.
“When the full lifecycle cost becomes visible, customers start asking different questions,” says Bart Nelissen, Regional Sales Manager BeNeLux. “The focus moves from upfront price to how a solution performs over time in energy use, resources and long-term value.”
In early use cases, the tool has already influenced customer decisions. In one example, a customer revisited an earlier decision after gaining clearer insight into lifetime energy and water savings, leading to a more sustainable solution choice when viewed over the full system life cycle.
The tool is designed to help customers:
- Compare product configurations from a lifecycle perspective
- Identify energy- and resource-efficient alternatives
- Reduce long-term energy and operating costs
- Support their sustainability and environmental goals
Integrated directly into Genesys, the tool is easy to use during planning and specification. Following its initial rollout, AirTech now plans to deploy the TCO tool more broadly, covering all regions. The ambition is to embed lifecycle thinking even more deeply into customer dialogues, making sustainable, cost-efficient choices the default rather than the exception.
“This is about making long-term impact visible and easy to discuss,” says Lee Suffolk, Senior Vice President, AirTech EMEA. “By embedding TCO directly into Genesys, we’re giving our teams a practical way to compare product configurations, quantify sustainability benefits, and guide customers toward solutions that make sense both environmentally and economically over time.”
