Matrix Composites Plant - Henderson
"In 2011, Matrix opened the largest composites syntactic manufacturing plant in the world, 20,000 m² located in Henderson WA. The plant has doubled the production capacity of the previous facilities and uses superior technologies to produce a high quality and more expansive range of products.
Matrix are global leaders in the manufacture of subsea buoyancy systems for use in the oil and gas industry and leading developers of syntactic foam materials and technology utilising the most technically advanced composites syntactic plant in the world. The facility includes a pressure testing deepwater simulation chamber for pressures upto 7,500 PSI, the chamber can record pressure, buoyancy loss and temperature changes over time."
"Munters were engaged by SM Engineering to provide an Evaporative Pre-Cooler (EPCC) for the air intake to the manufacturing plant, thereby providing clean filtered air and cooling to the main manufacturing floor. The units provided consisted of two (2) separated modules, each module consists of three (3) evaporative cooling walls, each 2000mm wide and 1500mm high incorporating our CELdek® type EPCC rigid evaporative cooling media 140mm thick.
EPCC walls are configured at low level behind weather proof louvers on the perimeter of the complex, combined with high level extraction fans the whole factory floor becomes a part of a large evaporative cooling chamber being flooded with clean, cool outside air providing ventilation of any fumes and dust etc … while providing a cool work environment for manufacturing staff."
