Munters dry air for painting wood
The transition from solvent-based to water-based paints, can create problems of elongation of the drying times: the traditional and simple system of hot air circulation, the total duration of this phase had an excessive increase, not sustainable for the business productivity.
Among the possible technologies and techniques able to reduce the cycle times, an Italian company (customer of Munters from 2006) experimented with a system of dehumidification by means of absorbent materials. As is known, more the air that enters the drying oven is hot and dry (compatibly with the type of material that acts as a support to the paint film), the greater the amount of moisture that it can extract from the environment in which circle: faster is the evaporation of water, and then also shorter drying time.
The tested dehumidification system, consists of passing the process air through a special filter hygroscopic . The filter consists of a rotor (a rotor that spins) divided into two areas: the air of the dehumidifier is sucked by a fan and conveyed to the "sector dehumidification" where the moisture is absorbed, the latter is removed when the rotor, in slow rotation, reaches the "sector regeneration", where a countercurrent flow of hot air extracts moisture from the absorbent material to discharge it into the environment.
