Improvement of product quality and working conditions in the frozen fruit sorting plant

Work in JAAK's sorting facility was usually done at a temperature of 0 to +2°C which, with the high humidity, was very troublesome for the workers. The problem began when the room temperature was raised to +5°C to improve working comfort. A white coating appeared on the fruits, which was in fact frost when a frozen product of -20°C was taken into a warmer and more humid sorting room. This worsened the quality of the products, which was unaffordable, but it was possible to change the situation!

The solution proposed by MUNTERS was noticed by the company Presidents during visits to plants with similar production profiles in other European countries.

After installing a MUNTERS dehumidifier in the sorting room, we did not have to wait long for the results. Now it is possible to work at temperatures up to +7°C without any problems with the quality of the product, according to the Quality Specialist at JAAK. The working conditions of people in the sorting plant have improved significantly, the reduction of humidity also made the low temperature in the room less perceptible and unpleasant for the employees. Elimination of moisture from the air also improved the efficiency of cooling equipment, less defrosting, faster reaching the set temperature and, as a result, lower energy consumption.
