Belgian air hub chooses Munters for fan optimization

Energy savings feasible by upgrading fans
Private citizens and businesses around the world are trying to save energy and reduce their carbon footprint. And Liège Airport wanted to contribute so they started an energy saving initiative to reduce the environment impact of this Belgian air freight hub.

Optimal indoor climate achieved with reduced electricity and CO₂ emissions
The amount of energy used for creating a comfortable indoor climate for passengers, shopkeepers and employees is massive. Recently, Liège Airport modernized its passenger terminal climate control units with the help of Munters. Two extraction units were upgraded, and one fan unit replaced, which significantly reduced electricity consumption and reduced CO₂ emissions.

20 tonnes reduced CO₂ emissions and 31-month ROI
The Munters solution was to upgrade two NA 2003 units and replace a RZR 15-1000 double inlet radial fan with 6 EC fans. Liège Airport benefited from the possibility of fan redundancy, which allowed them to secure operations at their passenger transit area.

Munters experience and Liège Airport’s desire to reduce its carbon footprint made this project a total success, CO₂ emissions were cut by around 20 tonnes per year with a ROI (Return-On-Investment) in 31 months.
