Munters, global leaders in energy efficient air treatment, has delivered a low dewpoint dry room at Sharp Laboratories of Europe. The turnkey project included the supply and installation of a dry room for the companies research into battery solutions.

Sharp Laboratories of Europe carries out research into new ideas for Sharp’s innovative technologies including mobile phones, laptops, televisions and battery solutions. The company wished to scale up their battery research capability from glove box isolators and had seen the work previously carried out by Munters at other sites.    

After working with the customer and visiting site, Munters recommended the turnkey solution that would incorporate strip out and preparation of the old laboraroty, building of the dry room, installation of ductwork, and installation and commissioning of the new systems. 

Sharp Laboratories of Europe stipulated that conditions must be maintained below -20 dewpoint at temperature 21°C. Munters selected an ML1350 desiccant dehumidifier that offers close control of relative humidity and, since installation, has been able to consistently achieve dewpoint conditions of -30 dewpoint, much to the delight of the Sharp’s team.  

Munters expert engineering team ran the project from start to finish, offering support throughout.  Katherine Smith, Research Supervisor at Sharp Laboratories of Europe said “Overall experience of working with Munters has been very positive.
