Mist elimination recovers valuable products, protects the vapour phase from contaminants and protects downstream equipment.
Multi-effect evaporation is a widely used thermal separation technology in process industries. The purpose of the process is to either concentrate the product phase or to evaporate a ready product from the liquid phase. The mist eliminator recovers liquid products droplets from the vapour flow or it eliminates droplets from the product vapour. Evaporation processes often require mist eliminators with integrated cleaning systems– to avoid plugging and physical damage of subsequent components.
Most industrial evaporation processes are multi-effect systems. Solvents are evaporated step by step and the product phase becomes more viscous and concentrated. The liquid carry-over of such viscous and concentrated product droplets risk the damage of downstream equipment. In addition, every single droplet lost in the process represents a loss in raw material and energy.
Efficient mist elimination plays a crucial role in evaporation processes by both protecting process equipment downstream of the evaporator and by reducing loss of product.
