Procavi S.L. is a Spanish company leader in the turkey meat production business with a market share above 38%. Procavi have a traceability system to control all the activities: from incubation, quality control, slaughterhouse to meat processing. During the last years, Procavi have made big investments in all their installations and rely on Munters as their main supplier of climate control solutions for their farms and cold storage rooms.
Munters solution for farm climate control and cold storage room
To guarantee the performance of the farms, animal growth and feed conversion ratio, Procavi installed a complete cooling system in a majority of their structures. To fulfill this demand of air extraction accurately, Procavi has installed Euroemme® exhaust fans and CELdek® evaporative cooling pads, a combination to ensure the right conditions at moderate power consumption levels.
To avoid problems of ice and frost in its cold storage they have installed a ML1100. The objective of the IceDry® system is to remove the humidity in the air inlet of the cold storage. Removing the humidity, the dehumidifier supplies dry air with a very low dew point.
According to Jose Antonio Bas, Engineering Manager of Procavi, the installation of Munters climate control solutions have given them a 5% improvement of the feed conversion ratio, more stable production and reduced animal stress and mortality.
The cold storage room has constant conditions with a stable performance of the cooling unit no matter what the ambient conditions are. The efficiency of the cooling unit has increased by reducing the frost in the evaporators. All these benefits entails a decrease of maintenance and energy costs and improved hygienic conditions.
